Hello from hot and sweaty Singapore! Despite the heat, this is a really interesting, buzzing city with lots to do. It’s also really easy to visit on a trip from neighbouring Malaysia. We did the Malaysia Singapore border crossing by bus and it was a piece of cake. (Not literally, unfortunately. If there is a country that gives you free cake on entry I’d be first in the queue!) Apologies for the lack of posts this week. We’ve been in a Wi-Fi dead zone. After our visit to the humid rainforests of Borneo, and mindful of the fact that our trip is rapidly coming to an end, we fancied putting our feet up on a beautiful beach for a few days. Juara Beach on Tioman Island did not disappoint!

Visit Sepilok: A Day of Sun Bears and Orangutans

We’re not going to lie. Today has been one of the most incredible days of our entire trip so far. In a little corner of protected rainforest on the island of Borneo, we saw some incredible animals in their natural habitat, and learnt about the work of two amazing organisations. Most people visit Sepilok for the chance to see our orange fuzzy cousins, the magnificent orangutans, as well as the very rare sun bear. We were lucky enough to see plenty of both!

Visit Kuching – Malaysia’s Cat City!

After a short flight over from Peninsula Malaysia, we found ourselves on the island of Borneo. We started our island journey in the city of Kuching, in the state of Sarawak. This place is the jumping off point for many a rainforest adventure and animal encounter! If you visit Kuching, one of the things that may strike you straight away is that this is a city where the cat is king. But there are lots of other reasons to come here too – here’s just a few:
